Biographical sketch and research interests

Hi! I’m Tess. I’m a Visiting Assistant Professor at Amherst College and I am currently on the academic job market. I do research and teach American Politics and my work sits at the intersection of economic insecurity and race and ethnic politics. I have a background in quantitative methods, which I have taught at the graduate level and use for the large-N and text analysis aspects of my research agenda, but I also do ethnographic, interpretive research studying the experiences of Americans going through personal bankruptcy and those working in the gig economy.
